Tour DetailsDay 01: Arrival at Chennai (Madras)You will be received by our representative upon your arrival at Chennai airport. Thereafter, you'll be escorted to the hotel for a check-in. Enjoy the rest of the day at the hotel, where you'll also spend the night. Day 02: Chennai - Kanchipuram - MahabalipuramYour day will start with a scrumptious breakfast, after which our tour guide will drive you to Mahabalipuram via kanchipuram. Known as one of the seven sacred cities of India, Kanchipuram has some of the most beautiful Hindu temples. Day 03: MahabalipuramBreakfast will be followed by a full day tour of Mahabalipuram. Apart from beautiful temples, Mahabalipuram is also known for its exotic beaches. Spend the day in the midst of the enthralling sea waves and pleasant surroundings. By late evening, return to the hotel, have dinner and retire off with a good night's sleep. Day 04: Mahabalipuram/ Pondicherry (110 Kms/ 3 hrs drive approx)After breakfast at hotel, you will drive to Pondicherry. This town has a strong French influence, as it was an erstwhile French colony. Upon arrival, check into hotel. Later visit Aurobindo Ashram, which is 10kms north of Pondicherrry. Later visit Auroville an interesting experiment where people from various nationalities live together in harmony. Explore the archaeological excavations and French period furniture. Overnight stay in Pondicherry. Day 05: Pondicherry/ Chidambaram/ VelankanniAfter breakfast, you will drive to Velankanni - a major tourist destination and is also known as the 'Lourdes of the East' because like Lourdes in France, there is also a great influx of pilgrims here. In fact, it is because of the major faith factor, that the Pope declared Velankanni as a holy city. Thousands of pilgrims and tourists visit the church of Mother Mary and it is not restricted to followers of any one faith. Enroute visit Chidambaram to visit the famous Nataraja Temple. The roof of the sanctum sanctorum is gold plated. Here Lord Shiva is depicted as the cosmic dancer-Nataraja. Upon arrival at Velankanni, check into hotel. Afternoon take a tour of Velankanni - renowned for Basilica of Our Lady of Health at Velankanni draws pilgrims from all over the world. Not only Christians but also the people of other faiths come here to pray at the shrine of "Our Lady of Health.' Overnight hotel in Velankanni. Day 06: Velankanni/ Kumbakonam or SwamimalaiAfter breakfast, you will drive to Kumbakonam. Upon arrival, check into hotel. In the afternoon visit Temples of Kumbakonam - the famous temple town of South India, is picturesquely located amidst the two rivers - "River Cauvery" on the north and "River Arasalar" on the south. Other places to be explored are Navgriha Temple, Swamimalai Temple, Swamimalai temple, dedicated to Lord Murugan. Lord Muruga was the son of the famous Hindu God Shiva. It is believed that Lord Muruga taught Lord Shiva the meaning of 'mandra' (OM). Overnight stay at hotel in Kumbakonam. Day 07: SwamimalaiOn the seventh day, you'll be given an Ayurvedic therapy for mental and physical relaxation. After having a pampered yourself with Ayurvedic therapy, move out and stroll around to feel the comfort of the nature. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the resort. Day 08: Kumbakonam or Swamimalai/ ThanjavurAfter breakfast, you will drive to Thanjavur and check into the hotel upon arrival. Later visit the Brihadeshwara temple - built by Raja and is termed as the crowning glory of Chola temple architecture. This temple is one of the monuments in India with World Heritage listing. Also visit the Thanjavur Palace - constructed in 1550 and has huge corridors, spacious halls, observation and arsenal towers. Followed by a visit to the Saraswati Mahal Library, wchih has one of the most important oriental manuscripts collections, in India. Established around 1700 AD, the library contains a collection of over 44,000 palm leaf, and paper manuscripts in Indian and European languages. Overnight stay at hotel in Thanjavur. Day 09: Thanjavur/ Trichy (55 Kms/ 1.5 hr drive approx)After breakfast, drive to Trichy or Trichurapalli - located on the banks of the River Kaveri. It is famous for the Ranganath temple at Srirangam. It has many historic temples, monuments, churches and mosques. Upon arrival at Trichy, check into hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Rock Fort Temple, Srirangam and Jambukeshwar Temple. Overnight stay at hotel in Trichy. Day 10: Trichy/ Madurai (145 Kms/ 4 hrs drive approx)Breakfast at hotel. After breakfast, drive to Madurai - known for the famous Meenakshi Sundereshwar Temple, one of the largest temple complexes in India, built between the 16th and 18th centuries. Apart from the estimated 33 million sculptures there, the temple is absolutely absorbing with the endless rounds of ceremonies, prostration of countless devotees and glittering market stalls. Upon arrival, you will check into hotel. Later, you will visit Meekankshi Temple and Tirumal Nayak Palace. In the evening if you wish you can visit the Meenakshi temple for the special evening Aarti. Overnight stay at hotel in Madurai. Day 11: Madurai/ KanyakumariAfter breakfast at hotel, you will drive to Kanyakumari - which is the land's end of India. It is an important pilgrim center as well, famous for its Amman Temples dedicated to the Virgin Goddess, Kanya Kumari. On your way to Kanyakumari, you will visit Tiruchendur - famous for the Murugan Temple on the beach. Tiruchendur temple is located on the shore of the Bay of Bengal. Tiruchendur temple is the second of the six abodes of Lord Murugan, enshrining Senthilandavar and is very popular with pilgrims. Upon arrival, you will go for a Darshan at Temple. After darshan, continue to Kanyakumari. Upon arrival, you will check into hotel. Later visit Kumari Amman Temple dedicated to Virgin Goddess, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial as well. Enjoy the sunset over the sea. Overnight stay at hotel in Kanyakumari. Day 12: Kanyakumari/ Trivandrum (90 Kms/ 2 hrs drive approx)Enjoy the Sunrise! After breakfast at the hotel, you will drive to Trivandrum - the capital city of Kerala, enroute visiting Padmanabhan Palace - the palace of Maharaja of Travancore. Upon arrival, you will check into hotel. Later, take a sightseeing tour of Trivandrum, which will cover the Padmanabhaswamy Temple - one of the most famous Lord Vishnu Temples in Kerala, Srichitra Art Gallery and Napier Museum. Overnight stay will be at hotel in Trivandrum. Day 13: Trivandrum DepartureAfter breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Trivandrum airport to board your flight for onward destination.
