Tour DetailsDay 01: Arrival at LucknowAt Lucknow you will be received and transferred to hotel by our representative. Overnight stay will be at hotel. Day 02: Lucknow - BalarampurAfter breakfast in the morning, you will be driven to Balarampur. On arrival at Balarampur you will check-in to hotel. In the evening a visit to Sharavasti is arranged. At Shravasti Buddha spent 24 rainy seasons preaching. Overnight stay at hotel. Day 03: Balrampur - LumbiniAfter breakfast, you will be driven to Lumbini. On arrival at Lumbini you will check-in to hotel and later in the evening visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha. Overnight stay at hotel. Day 04: Lumbini - KushinagarAfter breakfast drive to Kushinagar. On arrival at Kushinagar you will check in to hotel. In the afternoon visit the site of Lord Buddha's cremation and also visit the Mahaparinivana temple. Overnight stay will be at hotel. Day 05: Kushinagar - Vaishali - PatnaIn the morning you will be driven to Patna via Vaishali. On arrival at Patna you will check in to hotel. It follows rest and relaxation at hotel. Overnight stay will be at hotel. Day 06: Patna - Nalanda - Rajgir - BodhgayaAfter breakfast you will be driven to Bodhgaya via Rajgir. The first Buddhist Council, after the death of Buddha, was held here. You will also visit Nalanda, a great center of Buddhist studies during ancient times. Later continue driving to Bodhgaya and check in to hotel after reaching there. Overnight stay will be at hotel. Day 07: BodhgayaThe Bodhgaya tour begins after breakfast and covers the Mahabodhi Temple, where the Buddha attained enlightenment and other Buddhist monuments, edifices and temples. Evening free for leisure activities. Overnight stay will be at hotel in Bodhgaya. Day 08: Bodhgaya - VaranasiAfter breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Varanasi. On arrival at Varanasi you will check in to hotel and relax for some time. It follows a city tour of Varanasi. The places of interest at Varanasi are Ganga Ghats, temples, Bharat Mata temple, Vishwanath temple and the Benares Hindu University. Overnight will be at hotel. Day 09: Varanasi - Delhi - ColomboAfter breakfast you will be picked from your hotel and taken for an excursion to Sarnath. Sarnath is the place where Buddha delivered his first sermon to his disciples. The attractions at Sarnath are Buddha temples, the Dhamekha stupa, Chaukhandi stupa and the Archaeological museum. Relax in the afternoon. In the evening you will be transferred to airport to catch flight for Delhi. Arrive Delhi and connect flight for Colombo. After arrival you will be transferred to your hotel for overnght stay. Day 10: Colombo - AnuradhapuraAfter breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Anuradhapura. Anuradhapura is the most celebrated of Sri Lanka's ancient ruined cities. The city's greatest treasures are its dagabas constructed of small sun dried bricks and hemispherical in shape. The most notable of these dagabas are the Ruvanveli which dates back to the 2nd Century BC and is 3 00ft in diameter, the Jetawanarama is 370ft and the Thuparama which enshrines the collarbone of the Buddha. The city's most renowned relic is the sacred Bo-Tree which is said to have grown from a branch of the tree under which the Buddha gained enlightenment. It was planted 2250 years ago and is the oldest historic tree in the world. Overnight stay at hotel in Anuradhapura. Day 11: Anuradhapura - Mihintale - AnuradhapuraAfter Breakfast do a city tour in Anuradhapura & proceed to Mihintale. Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is believed by Sri Lankans to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It is now a pilgrimage site, and the site of several religious monuments and abandoned structures. Overnight stay at hotel in Anuradhapura. Day 12: Anuradhapura - Polonnaruwa - SigiriyaAfter Breakfast do a city tour in Polonnaruwa You will be heading to one of the Historical Unesco World Heritage Site and this city gained more reputation during the late period royal family and nobility of Sri Lanka strongly supported Buddhism. Polonnaruwa - the capital from 11th - 13th century A.D. Here the monuments are better preserved. The circular relic house (Vatadage) Lankathilaka, Thuparama, Royal Palace, Rankoth vihara and Galvihara with the beautiful rock cut Buddha statues are the most interesting. In the evening proceed to Sigiriya Climb the Sigiriya rock fortress. The 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress which is a world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The 'Lion Rock' is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 metres from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart, and ext ensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world renowned frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens' of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. These frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster. Overnight stay at hotel in Polonnaruwa. Day 13: Polonnaruwa - Dambulla - KandyAfter Breakfast proceed to Dambulla and visit Dambulla cave Temple in Dambulla. Dambulla is a vast isola ted rock mass 500ft high and a mile around the base. Here is found the famous Rock Temple dating to the First Century BC. The caves of Dambulla sheltered the King Walagamba during his 14 years of exile from Anuradhapura. When he regained the throne he built the most magnificent of Rock Temples to be found on the Island. In the evening proceed to Kandy. In the evening visit Temple of tooth relic in Kandy. Kandy - Sri Lanka's hill capital, stronghold of the Sinhala Kings, is our most beautiful town. It is 488 meters above sea level and next to Colombo is Sri Lanka's most visited place. The focal point of the town is, without doubt, the golden roofed Dalada Maligawa where the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha is enshrined. There are many shrines and temples in and around Kandy, where you will see rare paintings, frescoes, wood and stone carvings. Kandy is an exciting place for shopping with souvenirs in wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony and bronze. Now you are in the cultural capital sacred city Senkadagalap ura, then called Kandy. You can visit Temple of the Gadaladeniya, Maha Vishnu devalaya, Bambaragala Viharaya, Embekke Devalaya & Bahiravakanda vihara Buddha statue. Overnight stay at hotel in Kandy. Day 15: Kandy - ColomboAfter Breakfast proceed to Colombo In the evening you can go for a pooja ceremony at Kelaniaya Raja Maha Viharaya. Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya - Buddhists believe the temple to have been hallowed during the third and final visit of the Buddha to Sri Lanka, eight years after gaining enlightenment.
